The Council is consulting the community in relation to the above draft strategy for dealing with long-term empty properties in Blaenau Gwent.
Blaenau Gwent has a high number of private sector empty homes. Empty homes not only attract anti-social behaviour, but also waste valuable resources when there is a growing demand for housing.
This draft strategy shows our dedication to prevent and deal with empty homes, by helping owners to make them useful again. We also understand, however, that sometimes we need to take enforcement action to resolve some properties. Formal enforcement action is always a last option, and this document explains when and how we will do this.
We are interested in hearing your views and invite you to review the documents and take the survey.

Be aware that, as part of the strategy, the Council has recently approved a new policy in relation to Council Tax premiums for empty dwellings. This may affect you.
