Electric Vehicle Charging Points – Update On Installations
This page shows the progress being made to install public use Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points in Blaenau Gwent.
An important part of the Council’s climate change commitment is promoting the use of electric vehicles and providing EV charging facilities for residents unable to charge at home.
Electric vehicles significantly reduce the exhaust emissions that are produced in comparison to petrol and diesel vehicles, resulting in improved air quality.

Phase 1 – new EV charging points at 11 sites across the Borough
Funding has been secured working closely with Cardiff Capital Region to provide public charge points. The charge points have been installed and will be maintained by Cardiff Capital Region’s appointed contractor Connected Kerb. The contract has provided a Frequently Asked Questions page about their EV charging points – ranging from how to charge a vehicle, length of time it takes and the price of use. Phase 2 – funding secured for 9 further locations
Funding has been secured from the UK Government, via the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) for EV charge points at further locations. This will be complemented by funding from Welsh Government and Cardiff Capital Region.
The Phase 2 sites have been confirmed and installation works have started. We anticipate works will be completed for the majority of sites by the beginning of September. We will continue to update the status of each installation on the table below:
